Messages to the Troops: Australians are encouraged to send goodwill and messages support of a general nature to Australian Defence Force sailors, soldiers, and airmen and airwomen who are serving on operations around the world to help buoy the morale of those serving far from home.
Postcards, letters & e-mails are collected in Canberra and sent to Sydney where the Personnel Support Battalion is located. The Battalion then distributes these items to our overseas troops.

In support of this ADF initiative, Your Defence have created these fantastic ‘Support the Troops’ postcards. Our postcards are pre-addressed to 'Messages to the Troops' and have plenty of blank space on the back for your own personal message of support.

The Your Defence “Support the Troops” postcard.
Available in packs of 10 or 25 as below.
E-mail messages can be sent to: messagestothetroops@defence.gov.au.
Due to the large amount of spam and inappropriate material being sent to this address, please include "Message to the Troops" in the subject line.
Any e-mails that do not include this identification from Monday, 2 February 2010, will be deleted unread.

Please note: This facility is not intended to accommodate the forwarding of parcels or correspondence intended for individual ADF members.

A note from the ADF Ministerial Support and Public Affairs
With regards to the sending of general Care Packages to “An Australian Soldier” - Cost, Logistics and the Security aspect where all packages would have to opened and the contents checked to ensure they could be safely transported were cited as reasons for no longer actively encouraging the public to send these types of packages.
